Out of Time - Dave x Reader
"No; this isn't the right timeline!" Dave screams in frustration. You're peeking over the corner to see a very... Disheveled looking Dave, to put it nicely. "Everyone's dead as far as I can see!"
You're straining to get a good look at him, stumbling constantly in your mission to keep quiet; you're failing. It's actually surprising that he can't hear you, it almost wants to make you snicker. Almost. One wrong move and you're fallin- oops.
Dave turns around and doesn't hesitate to snicker at you all ironic like. "Looks like I found what I was looking for in the first place." He says, helping you up. Now it's your turn to snicker, which almost makes him look confused. Again, almost.
"Not quite. Literally EVERYONE else is dead. I think you want a better timeline sweetie." You say, holding his hand gently. "Better luck next time, God of Clockwork. You're running out of time.
"Farewell, doomed _____, know I actually care, I'm off to the next timeline." Says Dave, kissing your forehead. He then jumps into a clock-looking vortex thing as a horrorterror shows it's face. Turning to face it, you ready your strife specibus and prepare to make a last stand against it.
In the next timeline, everyone is mulling around... Your apartment? Except for two. Exiting the tiny hall, a few heads turn to face Dave's direction. Shit. Noticed. That was the one thing that he told himself he wouldn't do, get noticed.
"Dave! You're actually back!" John's eyes light up as he says that. He walks over to him and hugs him, but something is off. "I thought you were looking for _____ after... She.. Disappeared..." He trails off, looking at him. "You... Didn't find her, did you?" He asks, crestfallen.
"You don't understand, this has got to be beyond what you understand." Dave says, putting his head in his hands. "I haven't found a saved timeline with her in it yet... Shit, I should have taken the one from that doomed one..." He mutters.
"Dave? Maybe you need to sit down?" Rose asks. "You look rather, how do I put this nicely? Rumpled." She says.
"Gee, thanks sis." He says sitting down for a brief moment before getting back up. "I have to go find her." He says, opening up one of those weird time/clockwork/portal things and going through.
As the first time portal closes another one opens up with you, the only _____, popping out, with surprised faces surrounding you. "Hey... Have any of you seen a time-hopping Dave? I'm looking for him."
Literally to the floor their jaws drop when they see you for the first time since who knows when. Jade speaks up, telling you he was literally just there. "As ironic as this is, you need to go track him down! He was looking for you and he went away mere seconds ago!" She says, the first to retaliate from the shock of first Dave and now you.
John nods and so does Rose, ushering you back to the time portal. "Go now, he seemed desperate."
"What do I even say when I catch up to her? 'Oh, yeah. I saw you go through a temporal portal and got so clingy I had to follow you?' Genius Dave. Genius." He says, scolding himself. Landing in yet another timeline, specifically, the one he started in.
Pacing, another time portal opens a mere five minutes later, pooping you out. Being the sneaky ninja you are you sneak up behind Dave, not making a sound. Tasing him, he nearly jumps out of his skin and turns around to face his attacker, who in turn, hugs him.
"Hey doof. I'm back." You say, putting your forehead to his. "I heard from a little Egg you missed me.
"When I get my hands on him..." Dave grumbles.
"Hey, hey! Relax! No more time hopping, no more searching. We're both home now." You say, gripping him tighter.
"Yeah, we're home now."
